WHO IS SEAN
MARTIN?

Sean Martin is a musician, producer, and veteran whose life is defined by the intersection of high-stakes service and creative expression. A former Airborne Infantryman with a 2006 deployment to Iraq, Sean returned home a PTSD survivor facing a world that no longer felt like his own. Today, he is the driving force behind The Quarantined, using his background as a guitarist, vocalist, and writer to bridge the gap between the battlefield and the stage. For Sean, art isn't just an endeavor—it’s the weapon used to reclaim a life changed by war.

After the Army, PTSD made a "normal" life impossible. The VA (Veteran Affair) offered medication, but I sought a different cure: music. In 2012, I earned my degree from the Musicians Institute, though I kept my service a secret to avoid the intrusive questions of strangers. Behind the silence, I was living a personal horror show—my body fighting the meds while nightmares and depression took hold. Eventually, the truth had to come out, even if it started as riddles and jargon nobody understood.

My Journey To Healing: Self-Care

Healing began at a specialized clinic for combat veterans. There, I traded isolation for community, learning to manage my PTSD through mindfulness and self-awareness. While the battle isn’t over, I’ve learned to turn my darkest moments into something tangible: my art. In 2016, The Quarantined was nominated for an Independent Music Award, leading to our EP, Antiquate Hate—a warning against the irrational hatred that divides us. Today, we are back in the studio with our new project, Aversion to Normalcy. My goal is simple: to use media to empower our community and build a future greater than our past.

BIOGRAPHY

Sean began singing at age four in community choirs in Fort Bragg, California, and picked up the guitar at twelve. He is a Musicians Institute alumnus (Class of 2012), earning an A.A. in Guitar Performance and Music Industry Studies. Sean serves as Executive Producer for The Quarantined’s albums and is the band’s primary lyricist, songwriter, and content creator. Their latest album, Aversion to Normalcy, recorded at the legendary Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, has surpassed 600,000 streams on Spotify since its release in November 2025.

An award-winning vocalist in high school, Sean placed in both Regional and State Honor Choirs. He is also a Lenaea Award–winning writer and actor for the one-act play The Black Widow Project (2003), which won Best Docudrama and was directed by Meg Patterson.

Sean served in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Infantryman with the 3/509th PIR, 4th Brigade, 25th Infantry Division from 2004 to 2007. He was deployed to Iraq from October 2006 to September 2007. Following his service, Sean has become a vocal advocate for veterans’ mental health and for the responsible use of cannabis as a treatment option for PTSD

BREAKING THROUGH THE NOISE

In 2014, The Quarantined gained momentum, performing increasingly high-profile shows at major Los Angeles venues including the House of Blues (Sunset), Loaded, and Infusion Lounge at Universal CityWalk. Their single“Point the Finger,”released through Lucent Records, earned a nomination forBest International ActfromPure M Magazine(Ireland) in 2015. That same year, Sean authored an eight-part blog series,Music in the Digital Era, exploring the challenges of creating art in a digital-first industry. The band also released their first music video for “Point the Finger,” directed by John Rael.

Founded by veteran and Musicians Institute alumnus Sean Martin, The Quarantined blends military-grade intensity with a mission for mental health advocacy. From his time in the 4th Brigade, 25th Infantry Division to his work as a songwriter and producer, Sean uses art to navigate the complexities of PTSD and social change. Driven by substance and DIY ethics, the band is built for a conscious future.
